The 3M Hornell Speedglas 9002X Welding Helmet with Auto-Darkening features allow the avid welder to accomplish any job, with ease and high performance.
This Auto Darkening Welding Helmet includes an extra large 4.09 inch by 2.13 inch viewing area, and highly advanced electronics to handle a wide variety of welding processes. This also includes being able to work though low amp TIG arcs.

The 3M Hornell Speedglas 9002X has four built in vents within the helmet for reduced stuffiness. The complete package for this helmet includes the helmet, weighing approximately 4 pounds, a headband, and the auto darkening filter. For those welders who handle a myriad of amperages, and different arc welding processes, it offers precise clear vision so even the darker, dimmer jobs can be completed! This helmet is also solar chargeable.

The solar panel rests on the front of the filter cassette and helps to power the unit. The solar charge can hold up to 3,000 hours. There are over 60 control combinations to achieve the most efficiency and comfort while working. The newer model 9002X has detectors with greater sensitivity. This provides reliable switching for a wide range of welding jobs, even those that require very stable arcs like those from the TIG inverters at low amp settings.

The 3M Hornell Speedglas 9002X Helmet with Auto Darkening Filters has the utmost in comfort, too! With features that allow the user to select how soon the auto darkening filter stops, and starts, and dark-to-light controllable features. The 9002X allows for any helmet adjustments to be made even with gloves on!

The buttons are covered with a membrane, which allow for bare hands, or covered hands to depress them. The helmet offers darkening shades of 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13. If you are an avid welder, the 3M Hornell Speedglas 9002X Welding Helmet with Auto Darkening Filter is for you!

Miller Digital Welding Helmets are all made with the quality that avid and professional welders want in their helmets. There are many different helmet styles that work with many different types of welding jobs. The Digital Elite series has many different features, and many different designs.

Most of the Elite series comes with an auto darkening filter, which allows the welder to adjust the dark-to-light ratios, and set these features however the user wants them. There are lens power control modules, as well as a 30% larger viewing window. They also offer very keen lens speed of 1/20,000 second power. The .10 to 1.0 second ARC sensors work very well with the helmets, and the electromagnetic TIG rating work on low amps, too!

Orbital Welding is the type of welding when the arc of the welder will rotate up to 360 degrees. It is usually used on a pipe or something like a pipe. It was first introduced in the 1960's. It was used as a way to eliminate the contamination of water systems. It helped to decrease the spread of bacteria in the water. It was also used to purify gas and decrease the chances of a water leak. It is used for several different things like putting fittings on regulators, gauges, pressure transducers, and valves. It can also be used for welding gas panel lines, gas panels, and some of the components on a regulator or other like device.

They use it to weld titanium fuel lines, hydraulic lines and components, and aluminum ducting. Pharmaceutical companies are also using it. They use it to weld CIP Skid, WFI Loops, Diaphragm Valves, Diaphragm Pressure Gauges, and Clean Steam Systems. There are several advantages to using orbital welding. The first advantage is that the welds can be repeated without a problem. The second advantage is the tube bore is more smooth and even. The third advantage is a smaller heat zone than any of the other types of welding. The last advantage is there is less defects in the metals like cracks. It is a harder type of welding to learn but well worth it in the long run because of its quality.

Before a person can weld aluminum, he needs to understand what he is doing. The process is not technically welding. It is a hybrid between welding and soldering called brazing. Brazing requires a paste and a welder. The paste is heated and applied to the area that needs to be repaired or welded. When the paste melts between the two areas, the torch is removed and the area cools. If the aluminum welding job is done properly, the weld should hold for a long time. He will not need to do any more brazing jobs until a different part gets broken. Someone who work in a factory where aluminum products are made may find that he needs to go onto the next job.

Aluminum welding does not differ much from welding iron and steel, but it the process is not the same. A welder needs to learn the difference in order to work with aluminum and softer metals properly. Once he learns to work with aluminum, he can expand his skills to other metals with similar melting points. If he just needs to use the skill for a job or two, he can forget the job and move onto something else.

We will first review the cons of MIG welding. The biggest drawback of MIG welding is the cost. The initial cost of equipment can be high compared to other welding devices. While to MIG welder can bond any metals, separate wire and gases are required for each. This can add to the cost. MIG welding can also add time to your welding project. MIG welders can only be used on clean metals. All excess paint, dirt and rust must be removed before starting any project. The MIG welder can be difficult to handle due to it's size. The welder is also less portable than other welders.

Now let's get to the good stuff. The MIG welder is easy to use and no special training is needed to run the machine. MIG welding is much quicker than other welding techniques. This can be a cost saving measure. Another cost saving measure is the no waste of filler materials. MIG welding can be used for practically any welding job. It can bond the thinnest of metals to the thickest. The MIG welder can be used in any position. This makes it more desirable for hard-to-do welding projects. The final pro is that it is an easy process to learn.

Some of the top welding mistakes are as follows.

1 - Failure to clean the surfaces properly. This has the potential to cause a range of problems, because using a dirty welding surface can easily lead to a bad outcome.

2 - Using the wrong type of gas. Most people will spring for cheaper gases, but with gas you get what you pay for. Going cheaper is not always a good idea when it comes to welding.

3 - Having unmatched welding power for the project. This means not having enough power necessary to tackle a big job that may require a higher powered machine.

4 - Choosing filler material that is too weak. This can be a subtle problem, and it's one that you won't notice at first. It pays to know what kind of tensile strength your filler material needs to have ahead of time.

5 - Welding too quickly or too slowly. Believe it or not, the speed at which you work will directly effect the project and how it turns out. It's important to have a good steady pace.

These are a handful of the most common welding mistakes, and they will hopefully be avoided by the future generation of welders.

Basics of Tig Welding

Tig welding means Tungsten Inert Gas. This type of welding requires a non-consumable tungsten. The filler metal is added by hand. Shielding gas protects the weld and the tungsten. Tig welding produces clean welds that are of very high quality. Tig welding allows welding of more metals than any other welding process. With Tig welding you can weld steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, bronze, and gold. Tig welding allows you to heat up or cool down the weld puddle. If the metal is being welded clean, then there will be no sparks produced.

There is no smoke or fumes with Tig welding. With Tig welding you must establish an arc and then create a weld puddle. Then the filler metal can be added. The torch is left over the weld puddle allowing it to cool. Sometimes clamping may be required. This is only if the work piece cannot be supported during the welding process. Positioning of the Tig torch is very important for different kinds of joints. The recommended gas for Tig welding is called Argon. Tig welding allows you to sucessfully weld sheet metal. Safety guides are available for Tig welding because safety would be your number one priority.

People who are not very experienced at Tig welding may run into a few problems. You must always have enough gas flow when it comes to Tig welding. Make sure you use the proper size tungsten. No flux is required for Tig welding. Flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead welds can be made.
